Founder & Amankradohemea
Nana Brepo Ansah I
Amankradohemea of Akwapim Mampong, Ghana
A woman of deep conviction, cultural pride, and boundless compassion — Nana Brepo Ansah I stands at the intersection of tradition and transformation.

Her Story
A Leader Born of Tradition and Purpose
Nana Brepo Ansah I is the Amankradohemea of Akwapim Mampong, a historic town nestled on the scenic Akuapem Ridge in the Eastern Region of Ghana. As Queenmother, she carries the weight of centuries of tradition — serving as a custodian of culture, a counsellor to the chief, a voice for women and children, and a moral compass for her community.
The Akuapem people are renowned for their rich heritage, deeply rooted in the Akan tradition. The Amankradohemea holds one of the most respected offices in the traditional hierarchy, responsible not just for ceremony and protocol, but for the wellbeing, education, and moral development of the entire community — especially its women and youth.
Moved by the challenges she witnessed among the most vulnerable members of her community, Nana Brepo Ansah I channelled her traditional responsibilities into action. In 2004, she established the Nana Brepo Ansah 1 Foundation — an extension of her duty as Amankradohemea, bringing organised support, healthcare, and empowerment to those who need it most.
Her vision reaches beyond the borders of Mampong. With ties to the Ghanaian diaspora in the United States and beyond, she bridges the gap between her homeland and the global community — rallying support, building partnerships, and ensuring that love for home translates into lasting change on the ground.
